Enhanced Eye Examination
Our enhanced adult eye examination provides the comprehensive assessment of your eye health and refraction, with an in depth OCT scan. This enhanced scan gives us in depth information that presents early signs of eye disease such as macula degeneration and glaucoma. We can see these signs up to 4 years before you experience any symptoms. Our aim is to prevent eye disease and this scan will definitely assist us in doing so. This exam can up to 45 minutes long and we address any concerns you may have.
Our enhanced eye examination is £20 to all NHS customers. £65 to private customers.
It includes:

Taking a full detailed history of your eye and overall physical health, any concerns you may be having about your eyes and any history of eye disease within your family

Where possible, a full screening before the exam consisting of intraocular pressures, digital retinal photography, auto refraction and corneal thickness measurement to help determine your current eye prescription and risks for glaucoma, all conducted by the Optometrist.​

An OCT scan on both eyes, taking in total 6 different scans alongside a digital retinal photograph. A complete explanation of the results with reasons for any follow ups that may be required.

Access to a corneal topographer if required, to investigate any conditions such as keratoconus.

Full focimetry of current and previous spectacles to help determine an accurate prescription.

Fields test for patients of 40 years of age ( or otherwise required for further investigation), if possible to do so.

A full slit lamp assessment to determine the overall health of the eye both anterior and posterior. A digital slit lamp to highlight and track any changes to your eye health over time.

A full refraction with a digital phoropter with binocular balancing and near reading addition where required.
​

A comparison between your current and new prescription to see if there is any meaningful change for assurance and peace of mind.

A detailed explanation of your eye examination, refraction and any follow ups that may be required.

A copy of your prescription at the end of the examination.
